GBV awareness reaches everyone.
But does it really?
Across many Nigerian communities, Gender-Based Violence (#GBV) messages are loudly announced in marketplaces, shared through megaphones, printed on posters, and discussed in public forums. Yet for many women with disabilities, these messages remain #OutOfReach.
The critical question is:
How can women with disabilities access comprehensive GBV information in a way that is both safe and independent?
GBV prevention messages may be visible and widely shared — but visibility alone is not inclusion.
If information is not provided in accessible formats such as:
• Clear audio alternatives
• Sign language interpretation
• Braille materials
• Easy-to-read versions
• Disability-inclusive outreach strategies
Then many women are still excluded from the conversation.
Prevention is not just about speaking loudly — it is about communicating intentionally.
When accessibility is overlooked and women with disabilities are left behind, prevention falls short.
Let’s move beyond awareness campaigns to #InclusiveSystems.
Let’s ensure that information is not only heard, but truly #Accessible.
