On December 12 and 15th 2024, the Joint National Association of Persons with Disability (JONAPWD) conducted stakeholder’s town hall meetings in Ibadan, Oyo State and Jos, Plateau state respectively.

This initiative aligns with the ongoing project focused on strengthening accountability and transparency frameworks concerning the Discrimination of Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act in Nigeria.

The meeting convened various stakeholders to engage in essential discussions on disability inclusion and mainstreaming, aimed at enhancing equal opportunities and participation for persons with disabilities across multiple ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).

The event showcased empowering narratives of resilience from individuals with disabilities and facilitated in-depth discussions on critical issues such as accessibility, systemic barriers, inclusive education, employment equity, data collection, and healthcare access. Participants included representatives from government agencies, the private sector, and civil society organizations, all pledging to advance disability inclusion initiatives.
