Voices in Motion: Co-Creation Lab for Inclusion Advocacy & Organizational Growth

Yesterday marked the launch of a transformative Co-Creation Workshop themed “Voices in Motion: Co-Creation Lab for Inclusion Advocacy & Organizational Growth” for the Rights in Action (#RiA) project. This significant event is part of a broader advocacy initiative led by the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (#JONAPWD) and the Inclusive Friends Association (#IFA), with valuable technical support from CBM Global and funding from the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Currently implemented in #Nigeria and #Zimbabwe, the RiA project tackles intersectional discrimination and human rights violations. Its mission is to empower the voices of underrepresented groups through Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (#OPDs) focused on the #Deaf, #Psychosocial, and #IntellectualDisabilities.

The project aims to ensure that individuals with disabilities can actively participate in political and public affairs, aligning with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), the African Disability Protocol (#ADP), and the Sustainable Development Goals (#SDGs).

The Co-Creation Lab serves as a participatory platform for underrepresented OPDs and stakeholders to reflect on recent organizational capacity assessments and fully engage with the RiA project. Participants collaborate to identify opportunities, advocacy priorities, and strategies that will enhance the visibility and voice of the disability movement, co-creating innovative approaches that accurately reflect the perspectives of underrepresented OPDs.

This workshop is crucial in shaping the future of disability advocacy in the region, paving the way for more inclusive and effective representation.
