Applying for #SocialProtection should be simple, independent, and accessible to everyone.
When digital enrollment platforms are not designed to work with screen readers and assistive technologies, persons with #VisualImpairments are forced to rely on others just to complete basic application forms. What should be a private and straightforward process becomes a barrier.
This undermines independence, dignity, and equal access to essential services.
Nigeria’s National Social Protection Policy (#NSPP) calls for inclusive systems that ensure vulnerable groups, including persons with disabilities, can benefit from social protection programmes.
Similarly, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (#UNCRPD) emphasizes accessibility (Article 9) and equal access to information and services for persons with disabilities.
Digital innovation should expand access, not create new barriers.
Accessible platforms mean:
- Screen-reader compatible forms
- Clearly labeled fields and simple navigation
- Compatibility with #AssistiveTechnologies
#Inclusion must be built into digital systems from the start.
